Background

The African Regional Preparatory Meeting prior to the 9th Conference of the Parties (COP-9) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was organized with the support of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Biodiversity (SCBD). The preparatory meeting is organized by the supra-regional programme 'Implementing the Biodiversity Convention', which is being conducted by GTZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The preparatory meeting was held on Saturday, 17th May 2008, and Sunday, 18th May 2008, at “Saal Bonn” of the Maritim Hotel, Bonn.
